School Planning

School Planning & Improvement

At St Michael’s Community College, school planning is an important part of how we support high-quality teaching, learning, wellbeing and student development.

Our school has long-established planning, review and self-evaluation processes which guide both the day-to-day life of the school and our longer-term development priorities. Through this work, we aim to ensure that students experience a positive, supportive, inclusive and high-quality educational experience.

Our planning and improvement work includes:

Whole-School Planning

Our Whole-School Plan outlines the vision, values, policies and organisational structures which support the effective running of the school and guide our work as a school community.

School Self-Evaluation (SSE)

Through School Self-Evaluation, we regularly reflect on aspects of teaching, learning, wellbeing and student experience in order to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

This ongoing process supports reflection, collaboration and continuous improvement across the school.

School Improvement Planning

School Improvement Plans help us to identify priorities for development and establish clear targets and actions to support ongoing improvement in teaching, learning and student support.

Subject Department Planning

Subject departments work collaboratively to support effective teaching, assessment, inclusion and curriculum development across all subject areas.

This work helps to ensure consistency, high expectations and positive learning experiences for students.

Digital Learning Planning

Our Digital Learning Plan supports the effective, responsible and meaningful use of technology in teaching, learning, communication and student engagement.

Planning for Wellbeing

Planning for wellbeing supports students’ personal development, resilience, inclusion, mental health and sense of belonging within the school community. Student wellbeing is central to school life and informs many aspects of our planning and support systems.

Planning and school improvement are collaborative processes involving school leadership, teachers, students, parents/guardians and the Board of Management where appropriate. By working together, we continue to reflect, learn and develop as a school community in order to provide the best possible educational experience for our students.
