The Board of Management of St Michael’s Community College plays a central role in supporting and guiding the work of our school. Acting on behalf of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board, the Board ensures that the school is well governed, forward-looking, and responsive to the needs of its students and community. The Board of Management works to ensure that every decision made supports the best possible outcomes for our students.
At its core, the work of the Board is about providing oversight, ensuring accountability, and supporting the continued development of the school in line with national policy and best practice.
Role of the Board
The Board of Management is responsible for the governance of the school. This includes:
·Governance & Strategy
Setting the school's strategic direction and ensuring a safe, positive, and student-centred learning environment
·Policy Development
Overseeing the creation and review of key policies, including the Code of Behaviour, Admissions Policy, and Anti-Bullying Policies.
·Financial Oversight
Overseeingadherence to procedures and reports on spending
·Support for Principal
Supporting the role of the Principal in the leadership and management of the school
·Ethos and Compliance
Ensuring the school adheres to and upholds the characteristic spirit of the school, and is compliant with all relevant legislation, Department of Education guidelines and ETB policies and procedures.
